With the Australian Ballet Centre closed and our Studios classes temporarily postponed, we’re introducing a new way to join our adult ballet classes. At Home With Studios gives you the opportunity to learn ballet for free – wherever you are.
A gift from the national ballet company to all Australians. Everyone is welcome, so no matter if you have two left feet or feel at home at the barre, we'll have you on your way to performing the perfect pirouette in no time.
Three levels are available; Beginner for those who want to learn the ballet basics, Intermediate with a focus on technique and Advanced for our loyal bunheads. Each class is 30-40 minutes long with most of the lesson spent at the barre (or bench, table or chair!).
New classes will be released each Thursday for the next three weeks.

Support Our Artists
We look forward to returning to the stage, in great spirits and in great shape. But we can’t do it without you. With no ticket sales, which form the majority of our income, we are now facing the most critical challenge in our 58-year history. If you are able to, please consider making a donation to help us keep the company afloat during the coming months. Your generous support will help us reach our 60th birthday and keep world-class ballet in Australia for generations to come.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need for these classes?
You will need a barre for these classes however we know that you probably don’t have a ballet barre set up in your living room!
2020欧洲杯体育官网Instead, we suggest using a sturdy support such as a kitchen bench or the back of a chair or barstool that comes to about the height of your hips. If you find the chair or stool you’re using is too light to support you in these exercises, we recommend putting some heavy books on the seat of the chair to stabilise your support.
Where should I do class?
These classes are designed to be easy to be done in your home and in small spaces. Make sure you set up in an environment cleared for freedom of movement. We suggest having about 2 square metres clear to dance in. Please also take a moment to check that your floor is not too slippery.
Keep an eye out for small children and pets in your home!
What should I wear?
2020欧洲杯体育官网Feel free to wear whatever you desire! Just make sure you are in comfortable clothes that allow for ease of movement.
2020欧洲杯体育官网We recommend wearing soft dance shoes or ballet flats for these exercises. If you don’t have dance shoes or ballet flats suitable for class, we recommend going barefoot.
2020欧洲杯体育官网And remember to take regular breaks between the exercises to hydrate and to re-check your environment is safe from sharp, toe-stub-able objects or wandering children and pets.
2020欧洲杯体育官网Participating in online classes can involve risk of personal injury and participation is voluntary, based on a participant’s own assessment of their fitness, health and understanding of the class requirements. As participation is conducted outside the controlled environment of our own studios, The Australian Ballet accepts no responsibility for injury or loss due to causes beyond the control of the company.
We strongly recommend that participants do not attempt an online class, or any part of a routine, that is beyond their level of ability.
2020欧洲杯体育官网Recording and unauthorised redistribution of footage of the online classes is strictly prohibited.

2020欧洲杯体育官网I have really remembered why I loved dancing all those years ago, my fitness has improved, my mental health is in good shape too and my creative side has an outlet again. I hadn’t anticipated any of those outcomes and so great are the personal rewards and enjoyment that I then signed up for another week of classes.KATE GORDON-ADDISON, ADULT BALLET PARTICIPANT
